This September, Computer Music and our sister magazine Future Music are teaming up to host Producer Sessions Live, a weekend of masterclasses by a roster of top names in electronic music, at which you’ll also be able to get your hands on the latest music-making software and hardware.
The venue is the awesome SAE facility in Shoreditch, London, and among the artists confirmed so far are Dave Spoon, Freemasons and Danny Byrd. The Producer Sessions Live website is now live, so check it out and book your tickets while you still can!
Eccentric electronica evangelist Tim Exile has started his own vide blog. In this first episode he talks about the future of interactive music, creating visuals for music, returning to London and his plan to host workshops in his new studio. Check it out!
If you are interested in modular analog synth sounds, Matthew Davidson, composer and electronic artist, has recently released a free 2GB sample library. The sounds are manipulated through a TipTop Audio Z8000 matrix sequencer.
Davidson, also known as Stretta, said this about the library: “I’ve been using the TipTop Audio Z8000 for a while now, collecting material for a video, but I also kept a DAW file handy and recorded bursts of interesting output at various intervals. This process generated a lot of material, but it is clear to me it would be more useful in someone else’s hands.”
The library is free to use commercially, so if you fancy getting your hands on 2gb of useful audio to play with, click here to check it out.
It sounds like a joke, but it’s all too real: Native Instruments’ next release is an Alicia Keys-endorsed Kontakt piano instrument called, unbelievably, “Alicia’s Keys”. It appears that the soul diva herself was involved in the recording of the instrument and used it comprehensively on the creation of her new album. Check it out!
So what celebrity endorsed instruments would you like to see? We’d like to get our hands on “Trevor’s Horn”, but there must be some less risqué-sounding possibilities out there…
That’s right – the creative genius behind classics such as “Eat It” and “Amish Paradise” takes a surprisingly sober look at the history of Auto-Tune along with the Know Your Meme team. Check it out!
Its the 400 Subscription beat. Yall know how it go… I make a free download track for every 100 youtube subscriptions I get. This one is a lil’ late but hopefully worth the wait. I appreciate the love and comments on my vids! This time I craft an original track around the acappella hook of Rihanna’s new joint. Check it out! Wont be long before the 500 subs beat! THANX AGAIN FOR WATCHING AND SUBSCRIBING!

It might sound like a dubious new offering from Apple, but iNudge is actually a Flash-based, YamahaTenori-On clone. You can share your music with others and embed the player on your social networking page. Check it out!
Fancy a shiny new Hyundai i30 car to roll around town in? Of course you do, but rather than splurging over £11,000 on one, why not enter Hyundai’s remix competition to be in with a chance of winning one?
This is a remix compo with a twist, as the supplied sample pack consists entirely of sounds recorded from a real-life i30. Sounds include honkin’ horns, slamming boots, wipers (in three different speeds), grinding handbrakes, revving engines, and loads more.
All you have to do is knock a track together using the samples, put it up on YouTube and fill in the entry form – entries will then be voted for by Joe Public and the composer of the most popular entry will win a brand new i30 car. Not bad! Hyundai are also encouraging entrants to add visuals to their YouTube clip, although this is not necessary to enter.
Get on over to www.30beats.co.uk to find out more and get your hands on the sample pack – the compo closes on 1 October 2009, so get your skates on!
To get you thinking along the right lines, Hyundai teamed up with DJ Krysko to try out the sounds and come up with a tune – the result is the house-influenced 30beats, which was debuted at Sankey’s nightclub – check it out in the video below.
