Q&A: The “Cubase LE4″ music production software. Does anyone know how to make your project into a song?
Wednesday, November 23rd, 2011Question by Philip H: The “Cubase LE4″ music production software. Does anyone know how to make your project into a song?
I’m a first time user of music production software and this is all conusing to me. so I just need to know how to make your project into an audio file like .mp3

Hi Philip,
I assume you have created a song using midi or vst instruments or your external keyboard.
What you need to do is export the track to an audio mixdown.
Goto
File>Export>Audio Mixdown.
The audio mixdown window will appear, make sure you have the correct settings selected.
You need to have the output selected as Master/Main Outputs.
And you will see a section where you can tell it what type of file you wish to output it to (this will be a drop down menu).
Here you can select a whole plethora of different file types. This is where you can select MP3.
MAKE SURE THE MAIN OUTPUT BUS IN YOUR MIXER IS LOUD ENOUGH TO GIVE YOU A GOOD LEVEL.
Also check that there is no red in any of your channels or you will have
digital clipping in your track when you export it.
My normal procedure is to make sure all levels in each individual channel are not going into the red and that the main output is set to
-3db.
I then export the file as .wav/332bit float/44.1.
I then open my track in an audio editor like Wavelab/Adobe Audition/Soundforge and add some final touches to it there (things like multi bank compression, limiting etc etc) then i save it as mp3.
This procedure may be a bit advanced for you at the moment so just follow the first steps and you will acheive your goal.
If you have any problems please contact me on soundmagus@gmail.com or on MSN Messenger with lightmagus@hotmail.com and i will gladly help you out.
Also check my website for free video tutorials and real time chat with me.
All the best and i hope this helped you out in some way.

does every type of MIDI of keyboard work with every type of music production software?
Saturday, November 12th, 2011Question by Steve: does every type of MIDI of keyboard work with every type of music production software?
To be more specific, I’m thinking about getting the KORG nanoKEY 25-Key USB MIDI Controller Keyboard to use with Fruityloops

Answer by Steve
I really don’t know of any names that don’t support MIDI unless they are free. FL Studio (when it is a legit copy) will support any MIDI controller (or keyboard specifically). FL Studio is actually a great choice, because inside the program you can map keys to different parameters. For example, right click the panning of a track (left to right) and an option will come up to learn the CC. Select that, move the fader and now every time you move that fader on the keyboard, you will control the panning.
Cheers
