How do you use violin sounds in Fl studio 9?

Friday, May 18th, 2012

Question by : How do you use violin sounds in Fl studio 9?
Do they come in packs
or is it like the piano or guitar where you can play them?
I don’t really know how to use Fl studio so any help is good

Answer by Steven Smidley
I like to use sound fonts. WarBeats.com has free soundFonts you can download, I think you have to sign up before you can download the free files they have. Then you need to use the SoundFont player that comes with Fruity Loops, You have to purchase that soundFont player seperately for like 15 dollars if you want to save project files with it. Other wise you can just render your soundFont creations to wav and use them that way. FruityLoops is hard to use at first in my opinion. It seemed so un intuitive when I was first using it. I’ve been using it for years now. Any ways I suggest sound Fonts there are lots of sites giving them away for free. Most of them are pretty crappy though. I wish I had a real violinist or cello player. It’s so hard to get the perfect string sound. There are some synths that make violin sounds but I have not heard a real convincing one. I don’t make as much music as i should but check out WarBeats.com I’ve downloaded lots of great stuff from them, it’s worth signing up for. That’s where I got my best violin sounds.

Hi,

Yes – just use it as you would any other VST by inserting the effects on the audio/vst channel as normal.

All the best,

Prog House Tutorial Day 1: Making a Driving Beat [7 Day Song]

Friday, May 18th, 2012

www.boyinaband.com -head over to my website to see the text version of the tutorial, grab some samples and check out my other blogs and tutorials! And http for the forum (Shocking, right?) www.filtuh.com – The awesome event-finding site run by some similarly awesome people that sponsored this tutorial! Link for the Primeloops XXL House Drums Sample Pack bit.ly (I get paid when you buy things from there if you use this link – but I only use their samples because I think they’re good.) This Reason 5 Tutorial is geared towards people exploring the popular Progressive House genre, along the lines of Deadmau5 and Calvin Harris (Who I was actually on a TV show with like 4 years ago! Little claim to fame there.) If you use fruity loops or garage band or logic, protools, ableton or any other DAW I’m sure you’ll find something in here you can learn from, since I try to explain *why* I do things rather than just *what* I do. Let me know what you think of this 7 day song!

Maybe, one of the most stunning versions of this song… The Animals – House of the Rising Sun (1964) Vocals: Eric Burdon Keyboard: Alan Price Lead Guitar: Hilton Valentine Bass Guitar: Chas Chandler Drums: John Steel Lyrics: There is a house in New Orleans They call the Rising Sun And it’s been the ruin of many a poor boy And God I know I’m one My mother was a tailor She sewed my new bluejeans My father was a gamblin’ man Down in New Orleans Now the only thing a gambler needs Is a suitcase and trunk And the only time he’s satisfied Is when he’s on a drunk —— organ solo —— Oh mother tell your children Not to do what I have done Spend your lives in sin and misery In the House of the Rising Sun Well, I got one foot on the platform The other foot on the train I’m goin’ back to New Orleans To wear that ball and chain Well, there is a house in New Orleans They call the Rising Sun And it’s been the ruin of many a poor boy And God I know I’m one ———————————————- From Wikipedia: “The House of the Rising Sun” is a folk song from the United States. Also called “House of the Rising Sun” or occasionally “Rising Sun Blues”, it tells of a life gone wrong in New Orleans. Depending on the version, the song may be sung from the perspective of a woman or a man. The most successful version was recorded by the English rock group The Animals in 1964, which was a number one hit in the United Kingdom, United States, Sweden and Canada. Like many classic folk

Cubase, Pro Tools, Nuendo, Reason, Or any other Software?

Friday, May 18th, 2012

Question by : Cubase, Pro Tools, Nuendo, Reason, Or any other Software?
Hi i want to start getting into music production but had questions as to what software you guys recommend and what VST’s are good….I would like getting into producing electro and some Dubstep, DNB

Best answer:

Answer by Mr Skylaar
Cubase, Pro Tools, Logic Pro etc are all good… its just up to you with which one you feel more comfortable. I personally use Logic Pro and its great(it only works on Mac though). Reason however is really good for making beats. Very good for DnB and Hip-Hop. As much as all the top guys are using Pro Tools, The Prodigy did a whole album entirely on Cubase. So which ever you feel is more friendly to your needs!!
